OBVERSE

Obverse:  Portrait of Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679), (painting by Govert Flinck (1615-1660), was a Dutch poet, writer and playwright. He is considered the most prominent Dutch poet and playwright of the 17th century. Bottom left are four Braille dots for the visually impaired. Denominations in numerals top left and bottom right. In words lower, more to the right from center.
Reverse:  The composition of geometric shapes. In the center the shapes resembles a house with a roof, to the left of which is an open door to the terrace. This symbolic, stylized representation of various elements of theater architecture from the engraving by Salomon Savery (1594-1666) of the City Theatre on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam, 1658 (demolished in 1664).
